Ocean Planet Announces InfoMatrix As Sponsor for Vendee Globe

Cameron Park, CA March 5th, 2004

Bruce Schwab, Skipper of Ocean Planet, announced the return of InfoMatrix as a Sponsor for the Vendee Globe Race. The Vendee Globe is a solo non-stop around the world sailboat race. It is one of the longest and most grueling sports competitions ever held. Ocean Planet is a revolutionary Open 60 sailboat with a free-standing mast that has no support rigging and is constructed out of carbon fiber. In support of environmental efforts, Ocean Planet is largely constructed of wood laminates.

InfoMatrix provides logistics and database services to Ocean Planet as well as holding a Board Seat and providing financial support. Eric Jungemann, InfoMatrix General Partner, remarked "We are very proud to return as a Sponsor for Ocean Planet. Bruce is a tremendously talented skipper and the boat is remarkable. This effort is largely grass roots and volunteer oriented. Bruce and Ocean Planet have circumnavigated in Around Alone but this time, in the Vendee, there will be no stops. So, the team needs to get everything right the first time, from upgrades to the boat to all the logistics efforts that we are proud to be part of."

Ocean Planet is owned and operated by the Made In America Foundation headquarted in Oakland, CA. In addition to pioneering approaches to short handed sailboat racing that can trickle down to production sailboats, Made in America provides numerous educational opportunities to young people oriented around increasing awareness of marine environmental issues.
